Where are we going?

Missional Church

http://www.friendofmissional.org/

Does this sound like your experience? Is it even an experience you want? It certainly is not common, but there is a revival of sorts happening that is forcing the church to look in the mirror. Some like it - some don't.

For my part, if church can't be described as it is in that link, then it's a country club.

Here are some key statements:

1) A missional church is not a dispenser of religious goods and services or a place where people come for their weekly spiritual fix.

2) A missional church is not a place where mature Christians come to be fed and have their needs met.

In defining success:

1) Not simply how many people come to our church services, but how many people our church serves.

2) Not simply how many people attend our ministry, but how many people have we equipped for ministry.

If we let it, the vision will overwhelm. The gospel is bigger than us. It's not manageable. It's not easy (until we catch a vision of kingdom management). It's death. It's not cheap (until we catch a vision of kingdom economics). It's selflessness.
