I've heard two arguments for why Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ, is anti-semitic. The first is that it may stir anti-semitic emotions in people who view the film. OK, whatever.

The second one, I really don't understand. Some Jewish leaders are upset that their people are "blamed" for the death of Christ. Wait a sec. If those Jewish leaders don't think Christ was the messiah, then shouldn't they be applauding their ancestors for putting a heretic to death? Why the outrage? It was common custom to kill extreme heretics in those days, and nothing is more extreme than claiming to be God. There's a passage in John where the Pharisees are prepared and intend to stone Christ, but he escapes. Why, then, are they upset about being credited...I mean blamed...for killing him later?

It makes no sense to me.

Evite. Evite, Evite, Evite. Evite has replaced phone calls and e-mails and letters as the new way to invite people to an event via the internet. Now, instead of the burden of actually calling or e-mailing your friends to invite them to something, you can simply blast out 200 invitations with absolutely no effort. Now instead of struggling to make room on their schedule for your party, friends can know the truth that your invitation had about as much forethought as a single click of the mouse. The real beauty of Evite is that people can go online and see the list of 200 other names, none of which they know, and feel even more special to have received what amounts to another piece of spam.

Oh, thank you Evite, for you have made my life so much more interesting. Now, instead of feeling guilty about declining invitations to social events, I can rest assured that they really don't care who shows up. Heck, the venue for the invitation can only hold 30 people, so I'm really doing them a favor by trimming down the list.

Thank you, Evite, for you have made it possible to reach the pinnacle of impersonal communication. Indeed, I can Evite people I don't even know. I can Evite people I don't like. All with the same ease as Eviting my closest friends. With five minutes of effort I can organize a party for 3000000 people...oh thank you Evite.

I really don't understand. I really don't. I believe and hope that if you polled the nation that a majority would agree that stealing money from your neighbor is wrong. Yet we have a pack of politicians running around promising to steal money from your neighbor, and you are listening to them with some kind of entitlement mentality that somehow this version is ok. Explain that to me. If I don't personally kill you, is it ok if I hire a hitman to do it? It makes no sense. If politicians can make promises to steal (take by force) money that will go directly to another person...shouldn't they go to jail when they make good on those promises?

Peter takes money from Paul to pay for his healthcare or living expenses or childcare...wrong.

But

All the Peters in America vote John into office who promises to take money from Paul to pay for Peter's healthcare or living expenses...and that's PROGRESSIVE?

Folks, please, if you don't vote libertarian, vote democrat. At least then we'll get this over with sooner. We appear on the road to socialism (at best) or communism (at worst), so why delay it by continuing to vote Republican...they're on the same path...they're just slower.
